DegreeValid.com ("DegreeValid", "we", "us") provides academic credential evaluation and authenticity-verification services for Chinese qualifications. This policy explains what personal information we handle and your choices. Information we collect

When you place an order or contact us, we collect:

• Contact details — your name, email address, and phone/WeChat (if provided).
• Academic documents you upload — transcripts, graduation certificates (毕业证), degree certificates (学位证), and related records. These may contain sensitive information such as your student number, grades, and photograph.
• Verification data — your CHSI (学信网) online verification code/report and, if you order it, CDGDC/CSSD verification information.
• Order and payment information — the service selected, order reference, amount, and payment status. Card/wallet details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us.
• Technical data — basic server logs and IP address, used for security and troubleshooting.

How we use your information

We use it to: verify your credential against official Chinese registries; prepare your evaluation or verification report; process your payment; deliver your report and communicate with you about your order; keep records; and protect the security and integrity of our service. We rely on your consent and the performance of our service to you as the basis for this processing.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to provide the service:

• Official Chinese registries — CHSI/CHESICC/CSSD and CDGDC, to confirm your records. We are independent and not affiliated with them.
• Payment provider — Alipay, WeChat Pay, or another processor, to collect payment.
• AI processing provider — to speed up reading a transcript, we may transmit the document you upload to a third-party AI service (currently Anthropic, provider of Claude) for text extraction. That provider processes the document to return structured data to us and, per its terms, does not use it to train its models. This provider is located outside China (in the United States).
• Service providers — our web host and email-delivery provider.

We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.

International transfers

Some processing (for example, the AI extraction step and email/hosting) may occur outside mainland China. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps intended to protect it and to meet applicable requirements.

How long we keep it

We keep your order records and issued reports for 3 years so that certificates remain verifiable, after which we delete or anonymize them. Uploaded source documents are kept for 90 days and then deleted. You may ask us to delete your documents sooner (see your rights below).

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls on our admin system, and randomized file storage. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or withdraw consent. To make a request, email [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time. Deleting documents needed for an in-progress evaluation may mean we cannot complete it.

Children

Our service is intended for applicants with post-secondary or secondary credentials and is not directed to young children. We do not knowingly collect information from children in a way prohibited by law.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date.
